Ischgl – Both brilliant and crazy, that’s
Ischgl! The two-country ski carousel Ischgl-Samnaun
is one of the most incredible and snow-secure ski areas of the central Alps. The ultra-modern
gondolas begin directly in the resort. With the Silvretta lift pass, you’ll have access
to a unique ski experience with a total of 320 km of piste. In the various resorts of
the Paznau Valley, you can enjoy deep powder snow at altitudes up to 2,872 m. 90% of the ski area is above 2,000 m, which
promises snow from November to May. The longest piste is a staggering 11 km, and the numerous
deep-powder variants and mogul pistes get the experts’ hearts pounding. Free-stylers
have many options among the fun park and professionally-prepared half-pipe adjacent the Idjochbahn. The largest and most famous ski area of the
Paznau Valley is undoubtedly the bi-national bi-national ski carousel between the resorts
Ischgl in Austria and Samnaun in Switzerland. In Samnaun, you’ll have the opportunity
to do some duty free shopping. But be sure to pay attention to the amount of goods purchased
that you can bring back duty-free into Austria. Customs officers check nearly every skier’s
backpack at the border. The two-story gondola takes you from Samnaun
to the beautiful panorama restaurant on the Alp Trida Sattel at 2,488 m. Then of course, there’s the wild après
ski, which is what gives Ischgl its cult status. You can start on the piste in the Paznauer
Taya and get warmed up for a night out in Ischgl. But keep in mind, from up there, you’ve
still got about a 6 km descent back into the valley! In the resort, bars, discos, and a
champagne bar invite you in for a good time. But if you’re thinking of popping open a
bottle or two, make sure have sufficient funds, or perhaps generous company. Once Ischgl, forever Ischgl!
