South Korea has qualified for all five figure
skating events in the upcoming Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, a first in the nation’s sporting
history. The fifth and final qualification came Sunday
when the International Skating Union announced the ten countries that will compete in the
figure skating team event. South Korea squeaked in at 10th place. It’s a big improvement over past years — the
best Korea had done before was qualifying for two events back in 2002. After that, things went downhill for Team
Korea. It failed to qualify for any figure skating
events in 2006, and qualified only for the ladies singles in 2010 and 2014.
