NK Snowboard & Freeski 2017 in LAAX – De documentaire

Should I start by myself? I am Mees van Lierop I’m a freestyle skier. I’m 21 years old. And uhm… I mostly do slopestyle. This year i’ve focused on World Cups And i’ve done pretty much all of them to perform as good as possible. I’m pretty happy with my season. Uhm, kickers are usually the easiest They’re almost always the same with 3 jumps. I’ve done 3 12’s a couple of times. So first Right Side 12, to Switch Double 12 and then Left Double 12. So three different sides. My favorite trick is a Left Side Double Cork 1260 With a Tailgrab, or Blunt. Yeah it get’s easier with time At first a double is a big deal because it all goes so fast But it keeps feeling slower. And that’s why I like it because I can see the landing twice. I can spot the landing two times. And I can adjust my second flip if necessary. That’s why I think doubles feel a lot better than singles. My favorite place to ski is here in Laax. This is where I train with my coach and I know a lot of people. The park is always great And I’ve been coming here for a few years. I actually started to get a feeling for Laax during the Dutch Championships. It’s the place I’ve skied the most. I’ve learned a lot of tricks here when I was younger. So it feels like a second home in the mountains. My routine for a competition is Listening to the same song all day. I’ve started doing that this season. Music is very important for me while I’m skiing. But if it’s constantly changing i guess it would bother me. So I’m listening to the same song so I can stay in the flow of that song. I change songs every now and then. It’s been classical music, Metal, it’s pretty different. Go With The Flow by Queens of the Stoneage is what I’m listening to a lot lately. I am Isabelle Hanssen, I’m 22 years old I’m freestyle skiër and my discipline is halfpipe. I’ve been skiing halfpipe for 4 years, competitions for 3 years. But i’ve been freestyling since 2009. On average I travel 7 to 8 months a year. Ski days are a bit less, but I’m away from home a lot. Traveling is what I love to do most. I love to be in the snow, but we don’t have any in the Netherlands, so uhm… My run varies a lot At the moment, what I will be doing today during the competition is Straight Air Mute Grab, Alley-Oop 180 Japan, Straight Air, I’m not sure what grab, Left 5, Right 5, Left 3, Switch Hit, Alley-Oop 3. Same breakfast, waking up at the same time Taking the skilift at a certain time Being early at the halfpipe I’m usually the first to arrive on a compday Making sure there is enough time for my warmup Making sure I have everything, two of everything Two pairs of gloves Two goggles Nothing can go wrong My favorite place to ski is New-Zealand Cardrona, that’s where I feel most at home. I am Babs Barnhoorn, I’m 19 years old I am a freestyle snowboarder And I’m currently riding the World Cup circuit For the first time this season, so… The competitions I’ve done last season are at first a Europa Cup And this year I’ve made my debut at World Cup competitions and things like that And now, the Dutch Championships in Laax Uhm, I’ve been snowboarding since I was 12, more or less So that’s about 7 years I think it would be very cool to reach podiums in big competitions later on And being a part of the best in the world Because womens snowboarding is still in a progressing phase So it would be very cool to be a part of that and take it to a higher level So that’s what I’m hoping to achieve. Favorite food… Mashed potato stew, with bacon Uhm, my favorite place to go snowboarding is Absolut Park in Austria Because at first you can kind of do some kickers Then you can do a rail line and the lift is super fast And the conditions are always great It’s just super fun to ride there But I’ve been to America for the first time last season, in Breckenridge And that was a pretty cool park, a bit bigger The weather was also great that week So maybe that has sort of become one of my favorite spots as well What I like so much about snowboarding is Maybe it’s two things There’s the progression bit, so getting better and learning new things And like, the rush that it gives you, to actually get better at something And there’s just mellow riding and doing fun stuff Repeating everything you already know and just having fun It’s two-sided, but it’s always fun Great shot Skiing holiday, right My pants are filled with SNOW! Uhm, well, here we’ll do the cut
