This has been one of the best weeks of
the season so far with low temperatures, light winds and deep powder snow falling
each night. The snow started falling on Monday afternoon and since then has been
on and off all week bringing excellent conditions with it. The temperatures have
been very low keeping the powder soft and dry. The winds have also been
generally light with moderate wind drift development. All this has given us a
generally stable snowpack from this recent sno. There may still be deep
unstable layers so is always read the local avalanche report, take a guide and
test the snowpack if you are able. The snow will continue to fall the rest of
today with generally light winds. Tomorrow the winds will be light and
we’ll have light snowfall in the morning with very low overnight temperatures. On
Sunday there will be light snowfall throughout the day with light winds.
Monday will be calm with patchy sunshine and some light snowfall in the afternoon.
Tuesday will be mostly calm with light winds that may strengthen overnight. On
Wednesday we may be in for some warm weather with temperatures just above
freezing at the base of the resort and possible sunshine in the middle of the
day. The snow this week has been at its best for the season with fresh snow
falling each night the low temperatures have kept the snow soft and powdery. In Niseko, this is Al with Niseko.com.
