Mountains Are Calling – Skiing Bottomless BC POW w/ Dane Tudor

(wind blowing) (“The Nine Heavens,” by Dirtwire) – [Dane] The mountains flow in our veins. The attraction to
different types of terrain and snow conditions is a constant. An inexplicable draw, a balance
between risk and reward. (slow tense music) We are animalistic by nature. Guided by the mountains, we search for bottomless
powder, pillowlines, and big mountain terrain. (slow tense music) A journey isn’t a journey
without someone to share it with. So, I invited up and coming
local shredder Simon Hillis. Simon and I grew up
skiing at Red Mountain. A place that enabled us to
ski all styles of terrain. And made us the skiers that we are today. I remember watching Simon
ski the hill with his dad as a youngster. He was just a little tiny guy, you could barely see him on Powder Day, skiing down the mountain. – [Simon] I remember my
dad would talk about Dane because him and his mom
used to rent our house when he was young. I’d see him at the hill
shredding with the older crew and always wanted to ski with them. It was inspiring watching
Dane in the movies and now getting the
opportunity to ski together is a dream come true. (upbeat music) All right, dropping in five, four, three, two, one. (upbeat music) That was gnarly. Right next to that tree on the landing. And then, you’re going so fast got to figure out how to shut it down. (slow upbeat music) – [Simon] All right,
I’m 100%, dropping in 10, five, four, three, two, one, dropping. (slow upbeat music) – [Dane] The moments in between, we find ourselves drifting. A time of self-reflection
in the wilderness of the mind. Mother nature shows no mercy. (“Two Suns,” by Tor) We travel near and far, to have moments in the mountains. Moments of connection
with the world around us. It is here that learn that mountains are a part of the human spirit. (“Liberte Ana Monolink
Remix,” by Il Civetto) The desire to ride big mountain terrain can overcome one’s intuition. It’s an internal battle
and it’s hard to back down. Copy that. Dane dropping in five,
four, three, two, one, drop. Come on baby. (snow crashing) – [Dane] The mountains
will always be calling. And we’ll always be there. It’s up to us to learn from experience and live to ride another day. (wind blowing)

  1. Excellent, winter is coming, and now I'm ready. Great film. Nice to see a couple of local boys riding together in such fine style.
