over the halfway mark at the2020 Winter Youth Olympic
Games
in Lausanne, Switzerland. This competition
is just flying by, day seven of the games had
plenty for us to talk about. So let’s get into it.
[swoosh]The mixed team event
at the
Champery Curling Arenacame to an end onday seven
after knocking out Canada
in the quarterfinals and beating
New Zealand in the semis.
Japan clashed
with Norway for gold.
Norway is a curling powerhouse
and their fashion choices always turn heads
at international competitions. Interesting looking pants. That’s what I can
say about that. Wow. They certainly know their
style, that’s for sure. That’s some nice looking pants.
[camera flash] Norway’s mixed curling team
at these Games,isn’t wearing
funky pants though.
We’re not wearing the pants
because is not our thing. It’s something they do
and what they’re known for.We don’t what to steal, like,
what they’re known for.
We just want to be known
for our own thing. and we’re just trying to figure
out what that’s going to be. Arjun:After eight ends
of tight competition
between Japan and Norway,
the two teams were tied at four.

Let’s get back on track here. Day Seven also saw the last
of speed skating competition in St. Moritz. Arjun:This is the first time

that Speed skating has taken
place on a frozen lake.
And while some warm weather
before the competition
made preparations
a little interesting,
I think it was worth it.
Just check out that view.
That’s stunning. Makes me want
to strap on some skates and go for a lap or two. [swoosh]On day seven, my favourite typeof speed skating race
took place, the mass start.
Wearing skintight suits to be
as aerodynamic as possible.
All of the race’s athletes
start at once.
The first person to cross
the line after 10 laps wins.
It’s as simple as that. But with so many skaters
on the ice at once,
the risk of collisions
is always high. [static] Let’s see what happened in the
women’s and men’s events. Announcer:
Arito led the way.

challenging for silver,
Russia’s Tyrone
also in the mix,
but it was Arito’s tactics
which paid dividends
and carried Japan
to the gold medal.
[camera flash] Announcer 2: [indiscernible]
was running out of steam,
and Yang Binyu of China made
her charge as the final lap
proved a fitting end
to a great competition.
[indiscernible]
looked to have done enough,
but was caught right on the line
by the Chinese skater.
Talk about some great action
from the outdoor oval. Guys, let me let you in
on a little secret. Day eight of these games
is going to be epic. Luge competition starts
and I’ll preview The Canadian men’s
hockey team for you. There’s lots more
where this came from. Head over to cbckidsnews.ca. Let’s put a big
checkmark beside day 7. I’m gone for now, but can’t
