How to Maintain Your Snow Gear & Equipment

this is John Munson from Sugar Bowl
resort and Royal gorge cross country and we’ve been with the Better Business
Bureau since 2013 and todays Pro tip is to talk about gear maintenance skiing and
snowboarding is an adventure sports there’s no question you’re out on the
mountian there’s lots of elements here sliding around and it can be tough on
gear so you want to make sure you properly take care of your skis and
snowboards in good ways to do that is one to start with a proper wax your
gonna wanna be sliding as fast as possible out there on the slopes so you
gonna want to wax your skis as much as possible now I think a good skier does
it about three to four times over the course of the season you wanna get that
wax in there and shops will help you are you can do it on your own scrape it off
you’ll be able to slide on the surface another important element is edges so
when you run your fingers along your edges be careful if they’re sharp if
their burred or their snags in the edges gonna wanna get them into a shop and
have been filed down so you have a nice sharp edge the other components you
gonna want our bindings and boots so you want to make sure that your boots are
operating that they’re comfortable that they’re warm and that they click in to your
bindings be it ski or snowboard you want to make sure that you’re safely attached
to your gear so you can go out and enjoy a day on the mountain
