Figure Skating and Premed: an Unlikely Combo?

Figure Skating and Premed: an Unlikely Combo?

I started skating when I was even smaller
than I am now. Pretty much because my sister was and I wanted
to do everything like my sister. I feel so lucky to be doing something that
I love and I am able to travel the world. It’s awesome. It is always a win win situation. And the three minute short program and the
five minute long program takes the whole season to create, which is kind of funny. We work, we work, we work for three hours
a day and literally it is like ten minutes of skating that the judges will see. One of my favorite elements are the throws. Andrew launches me like a slingshot. It is the most exhilarating feeling, but if
it is going wrong, it is just a lot of time to be like, oh God it is going to hurt. When you are skating this elements a lot you
know the next move, you know how they are going to skate. I think Andrew and I do have a unique bond. I can’t believe it’s been five years. It’s been awesome: a lot of ups, a lot of
downs. We’ve had our first gold medals internationally
this fall. And you know, Gretchen is awesome the fact that she is going to school during
all of this too is pretty unbelievable. She comes here and works hard every day. Being a BU student it’s been a challenge. Being pre-med that’s very hard. But I absolutely love having both. I love being at school, I love figure skating. I can’t imagine my life without either one. It is kind of cool to be not known I can be a totally regular BU student. And if I want it I can come here and be a
skater. I also skate for BU figure skating team. This is my first year doing it. I have no partner, I will be all by myself doing singles – very
lonely. I don’t like it that much because I like to
jump more, but it is exciting because I will be a part
of my college, my team. Figure skating has been the world to me. More so because it is something I work hard
at, that I love. I hope to do shows for a little bit Get to travel the world, get paid for what
you love to do. Definitely be involved with sports. It’s been a huge part of my life. I’ll always loved figure skating.
