Climbing Gear for alpine climbing Eiger Mittellegi Ridge (Mittellegigrat) | Climbing Vlog Ep. 2

So we’re back from Switzerland and I want to walk through the different equipment that we used to climb the Eiger through the Mittellegi Ridge First of all, I brought my Petzl Summit Evo, which is a really really cool mountaineering axe it is super lightweight it has all the right features that you need I also brought my Black Diamond Sabretooth mountaineering crampons But I actually did not use the as much We climbed from most of the [Mittellegi] Ridge just in our mountaineering boots and when we came to the crest at the summit of the Eiger I put them on, because there was a lot of snow there that I needed the support I also brought my DMM Dragon 2 cams I really like those for alpine climbing, because they have those extendable slings and they’re pretty lightweight as well Besides that I just took some basic dyneema slings and some carabiners that you can attach to different pieces of rock There are some in-situ gear placed already, but I wouldn’t really trust those It seems like they’re pretty old That sums up which specific [alpine] climbing gear that I brought to climb the Eiger by the Mittellegi Ridge

  1. Did you need stiff B3 boots or could you use a more flexible B1 or B2 boot since there doesn't appear to be any steep snow or ice?
