Chamrousse – Olympic Pistes The former Olympic village hasn’t lost any
of its charm since the 1968 games. Just a half hour away from Grenoble, the ski area
offers winter sports fans skiing enjoyment at altitudes between 1,400 and 2,250 m. The
resort is extremely easy to reach, directly on the western flank of the Alpine Massif
in the Department Isère. It’s characterized by the heavenly pistes on which Jean-Claud
Killy once won 3 Olympic gold medals. With the lift pass ‘’Chamrousse,’’
you will have access to 23 lifts and 38 pistes with a total length of 90 km. The ski area
is between 1,700 and 2,250 m elevation and offers mostly red pistes, but also 16 km of
blacks and 12 km of blues. The resort’s western exposure guarantees
not only great snow, but also plenty of sunshine in the afternoon and evening. A particular
highlight is the sunset over the French lowlands – in Chamrousse, you can enjoy the evening
sun when it’s already becoming night time below. Chamrousse is French for ‘’red
snowfields,’’ and it’s called that for a reason! The ski station at the peak provides extraordinary
views of the surrounding 4,000 m mountains as well as the French lowlands. Above Chamrousse
1650, the Olympic Areal awaits sportier skiers. The lightly wooded area is perfect for back-country
enjoyment. Alongside red and blue pistes, you’ll also
find 7 blacks and numerous fun parks. Ski schools, even for the little ones, are also
bookable at the resort. Get ready for an Olympic holiday in Chamrousse!
