A Jet Ski Made to Fly

A Jet Ski Made to Fly

JOSH ROBERTS: I don’t think
anyone ever wanted to do it. You eventually get peer
pressured into doing stuff you don’t want to do. [MUSIC PLAYING] My name’s Josh Roberts, and
my World’s First is going down the ramp on a jet ski. ANNOUNCER: Here we go! He’s got to get it straight.
Get it. Get it. Get it. JOSH ROBERTS: They bring
new contraptions on, so Ricky found an
old vintage jet ski, and Billy tuned it right up. I don’t think anyone
ever wanted to do it, but it’s kind of like one
of those things– someone has to do it. And when you have friends
in the nitro family, you eventually get peer
pressured into doing stuff you don’t want to do. [MUSIC PLAYING] Hey! Keep going straight! JOSH ROBERTS: So
testing with the jet ski in its early stages, as I
went through the transition, I didn’t even have
control of it, and it bounced over to the
next lane and flew off the jump correctly. But luckily, I skidded out and
didn’t injure myself too bad. I’m just happy to be alive. Did you mean to do that? No. My brain stayed straight,
but the jet ski went right. I’m walking. That’s good news. A lot of people don’t
know that this vintage jet ski really is a jet ski. It takes two people to lift
it up, get it up there, and I can’t just roll
it down by myself. It’s so long that I
have to get lowered in. And then I’m pretty smooth
sailing off from there, but it’s really difficult
to control once I go off the 50-foot lift because
if I make one slight weight adjustment,
it starts to turn that way and I don’t have the– I just can’t get it back. It’s such a big,
heavy contraption. There was a lot of
unknown variables. The first time I did crash,
but it wasn’t horribly bad. I definitely made
it off the ramp. That’s always a success. ANNOUNCER: Look at him go! Check it out! Get it.
Get it. Get it.
Oh no. Oh no. [INAUDIBLE] missing. The jet ski goes flying. And then coming
down on the landing, it had swapped sideways. So I tried to stay on it, but
then it just kind of high-sided me, and I think I bashed my head
near the bottom of the landing. I think it took me
three tries to land it. But it was the most bizarre
feeling, actually sticking it to wheels and continuing on. ANNOUNCER: Here we go! He’s got to get it straight. Get it.
Get it. Get it.
I didn’t think he had it. I did not think he had it. Make some noise
for Josh Roberts. JOSH ROBERTS: It was insane. Probably half the guys
came over and tackled me on the lander in the airbag. So it was a pretty happy
night ’cause, honestly, that’s my favorite
part of the show because you just never know what
the heck is going to happen. [MUSIC PLAYING] Click here to watch
